Even More Ready

We've been up for a while...showered and ready
Ginger busily making sandwiches and other details
I'm all packed, including shoes and boots.
We still need to go through camp chairs and make a music stuff pile.
Mainly waiting on Brian to arrive from his morning gig.
Not sure how much I'll get “blogged” during the trip, but for the BIG trip I'm taking my laptop and you'll hear all too much about it. GRINS
I'm looking now at a Blogger app so I can share via my tablet.
Got some joyous family news, so that's a good omen.
Brian should be here momentarily.
We're ready

Wish us luck.

Almost Ready

It's Thursday evening.
We are meeting Brian Henke about 1pm tomorrow. Heading to the Our Haven Nature Sanctuary in French Lick, Indiana for the Beltaine Festival. (http://beltaine.ourhaven.info/2016/index.php)
We've been busily shopping.
Picked up maps and TripTik at AAA for the BIG trip as well as a travel mug for Ginger and a fanny pack for me. (Yes, I'm old school….we have a GPS, but I like paper.
The fanny pack will be a new experience for me. I'm a stuff-things-in-your-shirt-pocket kinda guy, but the new cell phone is too big for a belt case that doesn't catch on things, and it tends to fall out of my shirt pocket and get scratched when shoved in pants pockets. And I anticipate some warm weather soon and a lot of my t-shirts don't have pockets anyway. So we'll try this.

We also bought some road food and Ginger is busily (between loads of laundry) making sandwiches and her no-carb cloud bread.
We got up early and met my daughter Robyn to give her early birthday gifts (LEGO candy and a LEGO Big Bang Theory set) and to pick up some of her delicious bread. You Cleveland area folks should check her out at
I've got my toiletries and pills organized...books selected...clothes laid out/
Ginger says we'll be ready for sure.
I guess I need to have faith. After all, we're only going (this time) for three days, and Ginger is a whiz at organizing.
I'll keep you posted.
And I'll try not to get agitated until we're back, getting ready for the May 28-day trip.
It'll be fine. It'll be fun.

Welcome

Well, another phase of the adventure of living with a musician is about to begin.
I will soon be leaving on a month-long road trip with Ginger, filled with festivals, performances and recording---and hopefully some family visit side trips.
Rather than posting all this on Facebook, I thought I'd try writing a blog that individuals could choose to follow at their own pace.
Over the last years I've certainly spent many hours as Ginger's roadie and proud audience member, and we've even been to a few festivals briefly. But this will be a completely new level of immersion in her musical life.
While I certainly will be talking about her performances (I'm very proud of her) the focus of this blog will be on my experiences, insights and adventures as a relative newcomer to this scene.
Friday afternoon (April 29) we will be leaving for a 3-day Beltane Festival in French Lick, Indiana---riding with renowned guitarist Brian Henke. We will be back for a few (3) days to re-pack, then we will begin driving for a 28 day tour.
Right now I'm typing this (in my usual one-finger style) on a word processor. Once I work out the mechanics of how to post this to a blog site, I'll finish this post.
Okay... here we go on Blogger.
The house is organized chaos...Ginger has many lists...my mind is a-whirl with less-structured lists and what-if concerns. Ginger assures me that we will be ready. We actually have already obtained or arranged for many missing puzzle pieces, but this is new enough to me that I wake up early fretting. If I don't drive her crazy before we go, I'm sure all will be well.
Please, family and friends, wish us well---and me sanity.
More soon.
