What a morning!
We chased around getting the rental car----a 2016 Jeep Compass---and then spent over an hour at Verizon getting the car reader (hum) switched from our car to the rental. Then I left Ginger making sandwiches and finishing packing while I ran a lengthy bank errand.
Then came packing the car. We deliberately got an SUV so we could put all the music gear in one section and our personal stuff in storage tubs on the other side of the car. Of course, even with Ginger's skill at tetris-ing, there was too much stuff.
We finally took off around 3:30 (at least 3 hours later than we'd hoped) only able to use the side mirrors because of the load. (Fortunately some of that will be unloaded mid-trip---Sue, I’m bringing you a whole bin of books.)
We had a lovely drive through Ohio and into West Virginia, with the rainy weather waiting (of course!) until we were well into the mountains. We pressed on into Wytheville Virginia, and I decided enough was enough. So we're stopped for the night and hopefully will get up early and make up the other 9-10 hours to St. Augustine by a reasonable time tomorrow.
The drive was very nostalgic for me as I recognized multiple landmarks from a special trip I made with my children 40 years ago. Hopefully they too remember the golden dome of the capital building in Charleston West Virginia, the Bluestone River, Big Walker Tunnel……….
Enjoying one of Ginger's sandwiches, then going to Call it a night.
On to St. Augustine!

oh boy...books. Warning you now, house is a mess...sigh. Pain is present and when I go get the new med, I will be pretty loopy. Still can't wait to see you!!
